BAPTISM
Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation. Through baptism we are incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ and formed into God’s people. We become a new creation through water and the Holy Spirit and children of God by adoption. Baptisms are scheduled the First and Third Sundays of the month after the 11:00 AM Mass. Pre-Jordan Classes are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM in the Parish Meeting Room, 121 Belmont Avenue, Croydon, PA. Attendance is a requirement for the parents and godparents.
ELECTION OF GODPARENTS
One godparent is required. Two godparents, one male and one female may be appointed according to custom. Godparents must be Catholics in good standing, sixteen years of age or older, fully initiated into the Church (Baptized and Confirmed) and living sacramental lives. A baptized non-Catholic, sixteen years of age or older, may participate as a Christian Witness. Former Catholics are ineligible. Godparents must present a Certificate of Eligibility from their pastor; Christian Witnesses must present a copy of their baptismal record. These records must be delivered to the Parish Office at least one week prior to the day of Baptism.
LETTER OF ELIGIBILITY
In order to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to act as a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation you must be registered in the parish for at least three months, be practicing your faith and also have received all three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
